Good weather this week means you need to get outside!
Come see a plethora of modern art from atop your bike at Storm King Art Center.
You can enjoy being outdoors and go on a glorious bicycle ride, all inside this stimulating large-scale sculpture exhibit.
Read on for more details.
How to get there.
GPS it to: 1 Museum Road, New Windsor, NY 12553.
There is also a transportation from Beacon to Storm King. You can purchase transportation together with museum entry for a discounted rate. (see Storm King website for details)
What it costs.
Storm King Art Center charges $18 per person for entry.
Check out passes from your local library to save money and gain nerd points.
Optional bike rentals are $10 an hour, a good idea since the park is huge, measuring at 500 acres!
Or you can hoof it!
With plenty of paved sidewalks, it’s an easy walk, stroller and wheelchair friendly even.
If you get tired of being an artistic pedestrian, do not despair, trams run continuously, stopping at ten different locations throughout the park.
What to see.
Sculptures share the space with wildlife, so don’t be surprised if you run across some deer, red foxes or turtles.
Rolling hills and mountain backdrops set the stage for fascinating, thought-provoking modern sculptures.
Always colorful and exciting, these strange shapes make the perfect background for your hipster photo-shoot.
This installation art never gets old.
Yes, one visit is not enough.
But you gotta start somewhere!
Have we tired you out yet?
After you’ve thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor art show, head to Dottie Audries cafe in Tuxedo Park for a latte and a sandwich. See our recommendations at the link above. (did somebody say shrimp po’boy?)
