Everybody’s got a favorite bookstore!
Rainy weather means you probably need to find a cool bookstore to spend your time in today.
I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing that makes me want to cozy up with a book and a latte more than a good rainy day!
And, the weather forecast says this is the week for doing just that.
So, which Hudson Valley bookstore should you go to first?

Bookstore: Rough Draft bar & books
Address: 82 John Street, Kingston, NY
Hours: Open Tuesday thru Sunday 9am to 11pm.
Why it’s Awesome: Part bookstore, part bar, part coffee shop, part cool hangout; Rough Draft has it all and some cool atmosphere to spare. And did someone say happy hour? Yep, $1 off drinks Tuesday thru Friday 3-6pm.
Bookstore: Half Moon Books
Address: 35 N. Front Street, Kingston, NY
Hours: Open every day 10am to 6pm
Why it’s Awesome: Used and rare books mecca, head over to this cozy comfy cool spot to hunt for some literary treasure. How fun to rediscover your favorite childhood books. Also great, they have plenty of classics and modern fiction, what good variety to be found!
Bookstore: Station 1 Books Vinyl and Vintage Shop
Address: 1 Station Plaza, Pompton Lakes, NJ.
Hours: Open every day but Monday, check website for hours.
Why it’s Awesome: This place could use a blog post of it’s own, but for now it needs to be on this list. First of all, it’s a turn of the century train station. (Ah, be still my heart) Second, it’s chock full of awesome used fiction books and all those vinyl records you want to add to your collection. Finally, the employees are passionate about what they do, as well as helpful and just plain cool.
Bookstore: Ye Olde Warwick Book Shoppe
Address: 31 Main St, Warwick, NY or 89 Windermere Ave, Greenwood Lake, NY
Hours: 11am-6pm (ish) check before you go
Why it’s Awesome: Small but cozy, Ye Olde Book Shoppe reminds you of a tiny English house filled to the brim with books bursting with possibilities. Find classics, modern fiction, and various tid-bits like journals, note cards and board games.
