Blue Hill is Farm Cafe Perfection.
Blue Hill Farm is accomplishing some honest-to-goodness exciting farm-to-table things in the Hudson Valley.
Perhaps their episode of “Chef’s Table” touched your heart as much as it did mine?
At $250 a plate dining in the Blue Hill restaurant might be an outing reserved for special occasions.
However, make a chill any weekday or weekend visit to the Blue Hill Café and Grain Bar and you will discover freshly baked goods, salads and lattes to write home about.
The drive up to the farm is gorgeous. You’ll find here the upstate New york area greenery at its finest. Feast visually on rolling hills, adorable animals and wide open fields. Then enter the super hip and modern cafe.
What to order.
The lattes with fresh milk are the best you’ve had. The muffins with carrots from the garden are perfection. The cute jars of house-made jams and sauces are great souvenirs but also work well as “look what I did that was awesome last weekend” gifts. After you make your selection take a few moments to savor the flavors.
Choose whether to sit in the café and delight over your treat, or take it to go as you enjoy a walk around the farm free of charge.
Interact with the animals.
It is hard to say which is more adorable the baby lettuces or the baby sheep? 🐑 🥗
Don’t forget to say hi to the free ranging chickens! 🐓 🐓
If you visit on Saturday or Sunday there are a variety of hands on activities included in the paid admission tour ($22.00). You can choose from activities such as egg collecting, meeting the sheep, lettuce tasting, and a pig walk.
